Harrison library launches summer-reading program; splash pad to open May 21

Shannon Nick of the Harrison Public Library told council on May 19 that the library will run a summer-reading program for children and teens (through age 18) from May 30 to July 31 with a camping theme called 'Camp Read.'
Nick described a May 30 kickoff party with crafts and games, an early-reader book club starting June 5 for grades K–2 that requires registration, and a community book swap on June 6. The library will give participating children a free book, a themed badge and a voucher for two free Reds tickets while supplies last, and will offer a summer 'discovery pass' that provides free entry to local arts and cultural attractions for cardholders.
Separately, council members announced a splash-pad ribbon cutting scheduled for May 21 between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.; the mayor said he will ‘activate’ the splash pad as part of the event. Officials encouraged residents to attend spring and summer events including Memorial Day services and community concerts.
