"Operating revenue has increased since Oakview Group has been managing the fairgrounds," Padron told the court.
Commissioners praised the management team’s responsiveness during emergencies and pointed to growing attendance and the facility’s upcoming 20th anniversary as reasons to continue the relationship while the court weighs capital and long‑term management questions. Commissioner Mars and others said the facility’s improvements had increased community use and that the court should plan capital investments in the coming budget cycle.
The court approved a one‑year renewal under the existing agreement and directed staff to return with options — including an RFP or internal alternatives — before deciding on a longer term arrangement. The motion passed on a voice vote.
