The Town of Dover board approved a resolution authorizing the town supervisor to execute a temporary access easement in favor of Duchess County to allow road improvements and culvert repair or replacement at 767 Chestnut Ridge Road in Dover Plains.
A council member explained the board will also execute a statement of donation waiving the county's routine temporary easement fee. "We're waving our fee, which would be about $35 for the temporary easement," the council member said, noting a private homeowner's comparable temporary easement might be valued at about $300.
The resolution cites New York State Town Law 291(1) as authorization for the board action. The reading of the resolution preceded a motion to adopt; the motion was brought by Murphy and seconded by Maluda. After brief additional confirmation that Duchess County will perform the road work on County Routes 23 and 24 — both identified in the record as Chestnut Ridge Road — the presiding official called the question and the motion carried with no opposition voiced in the public record.
