Commission OKs Oakleaf amendment to allow fire station site and minor permitted‑use changes

The Planning Commission on April 29 recommended approval of an amendment to the Oakleaf mixed‑use development agreement (MISC‑26‑00009) to subdivide a commercial lot to allow the La Vista/Papillion Fire Department to locate a station there, and to adjust the permitted‑use list, landscaping and signage. The change was presented by Larry Jobin on behalf of Oakleaf Development LLC.
Jobin said the change follows prior approvals by the city of La Vista and Papillion City Council, and that the amendment adds safety services (the fire station) and a small set of permitted uses (administration, postal facilities, data center, garden center, etc.) to the commercial area. Staff said the amendment was otherwise a clean package and commissioners moved and recommended approval by a 6–0 vote; the recommendation is contingent on resolution of any staff contingencies noted in the staff report before council action.
