Council President Cox summarized the council's work to revise the city-administrator evaluation process and form, saying the goal was to collect consistent, direction-focused feedback tied to measurable objectives rather than open-ended opinions.
Cox said the revised process removes a goals section from the evaluation form because council goals and directions are set during retreats and workshops, and described plans for council training to standardize the evaluation approach. "We did make some changes... we collected the input, put it together and modified a little bit," Cox said.
City Administrator Ron acknowledged the new process and said he had declined a merit increase that had been under discussion, but he asked the council to consider a merit increase in the context of the finalized evaluation. The council discussed timing for evaluations relative to the state-of-the-city presentation and agreed to schedule training with CIS to build a more measurable standard operating procedure for future reviews.
No formal vote was required; council discussed next steps and planned to reconvene the evaluation process on the updated timetable.
