The Wright County Board of Commissioners on April 21 unanimously adopted two resolutions recognizing the contributions of local correctional staff and promoting work‑zone safety.
Captain O'Malley of the Sheriff’s Office read the Correctional Officers and Employees Week proclamation, noting the role jail staff play in maintaining safety and supporting reentry: "Correctional officers and support staff are dedicated courageous professionals who are committed to ensuring the safety and well‑being of those in their care," Captain O'Malley said. The board adopted Resolution 2634, acknowledging May 3–9, 2026 as Correctional Officers and Employees Week in Wright County.
The board also adopted Resolution 2635 declaring April 20–24, 2026 National Work Zone Awareness Week in Wright County. Cody Allen of the Highway Department spoke for highway crews and asked motorists to slow down and avoid distractions around construction: "When you see our construction workers, we just ask that everyone slow down, avoid distractions," Allen said.
Both resolutions passed by unanimous voice vote. Commissioners recorded motions to adopt each resolution and no dissenting votes were indicated in the meeting record.
The proclamations carry no regulatory effect but are intended to recognize staff contributions and encourage public safety behavior. County staff agreed to provide photos for a post about the work‑zone proclamation.
