County unveils interactive GIS viewer and dashboard for open-space projects

County GIS staff demonstrated June 1 a new public parcel viewer and story map designed to make open-space project information easier to find.
Cynica, the GIS presenter, showed a web map with layers for pre-applications, round-one approvals, round-two approvals, county purchases and trail applications; each parcel popup contains application dates, requested amounts, scoring sheets and attached documents such as deeds and ordinances. She said staff also built a dashboard that tracks bond expenditures and noted that about $5.9 million has been committed against a stated $20 million program target.
Committee members praised the tool as a transparency and outreach improvement. Committee members asked how recently closed easements were captured; staff acknowledged some very recent easements may not yet appear and encouraged members to send corrections or photographs to improve popups.
Cynica invited committee members and the public to review the viewer on the county’s interactive web maps page and provide feedback. Staff said the tool will be updated as parcels move through the process and as deeds and funding commitments are finalized.
