Engineer says 1000 South Project bids strong; addendum changes deadline for box culvert work

Ballard — Jeff Baker of Jones & DeMille briefed the Ballard City Council on the status of the 1000 South Project, saying the job has attracted contractor interest and that an addendum will revise contract dates.
Baker said the addendum will require contractors to complete the box culvert with backfill and all underground utilities by the end of 2026; remaining items such as paving and striping may be finished in spring 2027. He told the council bids are due June 1 at 1:00 p.m. and that he will present the bid results at the June 2 council meeting.
Baker also reported he would follow up on permit status during the week. The revised schedule is intended to ensure critical underground work is completed before winter, while allowing weather-dependent surface work to occur next season.
The update was informational; no council vote was required. Council members and staff were asked to monitor permit progress and review bids when presented at the next meeting.
