Commissioners replace inactive city–county planning board representative, appoint Todd Racer

Commissioners discussed the lack of attendance by the county’s current representative to the city planning board and voted to forward a new county representative’s name to the city for appointment.

Officials said the incumbent—identified in the record as Maria Evans—has not attended board meetings since July and has been present only a handful of times in recent months. A commissioner moved that Maria Evans be removed from the county’s representative role because of nonattendance and that Todd Racer be sent to the city as the county’s nominee to serve as the county representative on the city planning board.

The board took a motion and second and approved forwarding the nomination to the city so the city council can consider appointing the new representative at its next meeting. Commissioners discussed logistical follow-up: notifying Maria Evans, preparing a brief letter to accompany the nomination and obtaining contact information and a signature from the nominee so the city can process the appointment.

The action was presented as a county nomination to the city; the city council retains authority to complete the appointment.
