Equity council adopts 2024–25 opportunity index after minor data clarifications

The Equity Council voted to adopt the 2024–25 Equity Scorecard (opportunity index) at its June 2 meeting after committee members reviewed clarifying edits to a small number of data points.

Scott Horn, who led the scorecard committee, told the council he had excluded the 2020–21 kindergarten‑readiness data because the testing window was shifted during the COVID period and produced a misleading spike. He also noted an apparent statewide reporting change in the teacher workforce metric that affects year‑to‑year comparisons; the council added an asterisk and explanatory note linking to Kentucky Department of Education documentation.

A member moved to accept the latest draft and the motion passed by voice vote. Horn said the remaining work is administrative — finalizing a portal URL and updating the PDF — and that the content otherwise will remain unchanged.

Why it matters: The scorecard is designed to help the district track opportunity indicators, highlight where students enter school with different levels of readiness, and point administrators to areas for investment. The council noted the scorecard’s use as a public‑facing tool and pledged to keep data notes transparent where reporting anomalies exist.
