Wright County approves multiple road and roundabout contracts, all grant-funded, board says

Wright County commissioners on June 2 unanimously approved awards for several transportation projects, including a locally led roundabout project on US 12/US 14 west of Delano (contract 2605), a roundabout at Trunk Highway 25 and County Road 113 (contract 2606), and a Crawford Avenue project providing public access to Sullivan Lake near Maple Lake.
Chad, a county public works staff member, told the board the US12/US14 roundabout is funded approximately 93% by grants and 7% by state gas tax funds, with no local funds required. For the Trunk Highway 25/County Road 113 project staff said that one is 100% grant-funded. The Maple Lake Township road project came in significantly under budget and will be fully paid by state aid funds, Chad said.
The board also authorized additional engineering services with WSB for two projects where county staffing gaps and added archaeological monitoring required external inspection and surveying. Chad said the county lacked in-house inspection capacity on CASA 18 and CASA 36 and that WSB would perform inspection and surveying; the board approved signatures authorizing the work.
Commissioners praised competitive bids from local contractors and noted that several projects involved local firms. All motions to award contracts and authorize engineering services passed unanimously.
Next steps: Awarded contractors will proceed with construction according to project schedules; staff noted tentative start dates after the Fourth of July for at least one project and said inspectors will be assigned for monitoring and archaeological requirements.
