An audit submitted with the request reported about 41 active investigations annually.
County Clerk Shella Thoman told the Board she had forwarded the request to the other County Clerks in the 12th Judicial District who share coroner expense, indicating the final cost per county could change depending on participation. Commissioners did not adopt a contract at the meeting; the matter was reviewed and left for further consideration and coordination among district counties.
The request was discussed as part of the regular agenda; no motion adopting a new contract amount was recorded during the session. The Board noted the financial and liability implications would require district‑level coordination before any change took effect.
