Smyth County Board reaffirms 2nd Amendment Sanctuary resolution unanimously

On Feb. 12 the Smyth County Board of Supervisors unanimously reaffirmed the county's Dec. 10, 2019 resolution designating Smyth County a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary County.
North Fork District Supervisor Rick Billings asked the board to reaffirm the earlier resolution after a citizen raised the issue. Chair Charlie Atkins read the December 2019 resolution into the record and asked for a motion; Billings moved to reaffirm and Saltville District Supervisor Roscoe Call seconded. The board voted unanimously in favor.
Several supervisors expressed support for the reaffirmation in their comments and the board recorded no dissenting votes during the public meeting.
The reaffirmation restates the county's earlier public position; no new enforcement actions or ordinance changes were proposed or adopted at the Feb. 12 meeting.
