Board reviews draft 2026–31 strategic plan emphasizing belonging, future‑ready learning and operational alignment

Deputy Superintendent Dr. John Caziano presented the board with a fourth draft of the district’s strategic plan for 2026–2031 at the June 3 meeting, summarizing stakeholder feedback, proposed changes and the next steps toward adoption.

The draft proposes merging the Academies master plan into one comprehensive pre‑K–12 strategic plan and suggests modest adjustments to the six existing focus areas, including an explicit emphasis on learning‑space transformation and operational effectiveness. Caziano highlighted cross‑stakeholder themes identified during outreach: student belonging, future‑ready learning and career pathways, workforce sustainability (recruitment and succession planning), special‑education supports, and improved communication and transparency.

"A unified framework aligns strategic priorities, future‑ready learning, operational systems, and student experiences in support of every learner," Caziano said, noting the draft reflects more than 12,000 student responses and extensive staff and community feedback. He said a side‑by‑side document comparing current plan goals to the draft will be posted on the district website when the public feedback survey goes live the next day.

Board members generally praised the work and asked for more clarity on measurable objectives. The administration said it will collect public survey input June 26–July 8, refine the draft and return to the board on July 15 for possible final consideration and adoption.
