The Nance County Board of Supervisors approved routine financial and administrative items during its May 26 meeting, including large claims and monthly receipts, while also approving several operational matters.
Board members approved, with standard motions and roll calls, the county’s claims across multiple funds (major line items were listed in the minutes) and later approved the previously withheld claim to Supervisor Scott Russell with Russell abstaining. The minutes list total salary claims of $93,956.96, general fund claims of $86,116.07, and road fund claims of $141,951.81.
The board also approved the County Treasurer’s Miscellaneous Receipts #26040001–#26040061 totaling $2,461,629.66 for April 2026 and reviewed new pledged collateral from Points West Community Bank of $1,272,179.65 securing 25 distress warrants. Sheriff Ben Bakewell and the treasurer reported that collections from 25 distress warrants amounted to $18,530.58 plus $282.58 in interest ($18,813.16 total), which the board reviewed.
Operational items included: approval of three Viaero utility right-of-way permits after plan updates and fee payment, and the hiring of Elena Reimer as a part-time summer intern for the Boone-Nance Extension Office. The board also designated the State Print Shop through NACO to print Joint Public Hearing postcards.
All routine items were recorded in the official minutes; the meeting adjourned after completion of the business recorded.
