County adopts minor floodplain ordinance update to match new code references

Steele County commissioners on Feb. 3 completed the required second reading and adopted an amendment to the county floodplain ordinance to align code references with updated state/local 'centric code' requirements.
Ben, the county planner, told commissioners the only change was updated code references on the ordinance’s first page. He said the revision was required by the county’s home-rule charter procedure and was presented as a second reading with no expected public opposition. A motion to adopt the amendment was moved and seconded; commissioners voted in favor and staff were directed to finalize signatures (Richard was asked to sign the last page).
The amendment is procedural in nature and does not change substantive floodplain standards, staff said. The county will file the amended ordinance as required by its charter procedures.
