Drainage board approves multiple non-enforcements, administrative corrections and construction updates

At its Feb. 23 meeting the Hamilton County Drainage Board approved a series of routine administrative items including several non-enforcement requests, a no-cost bid-document correction for a Park Broadway Phase 2 contract, acceptance of sub-surface drain risers into the regulated drain network, and construction updates on multiple reconstruction projects.
Newman and other Surveyor’s Office staff presented non-enforcement requests recommended for approval: Lennar Homes’ Eastwood Village Section 1 related to the Stephenson-Compton Drain; Skylake Land Trust’s request for the Mary Johnson Drain; Charter Communications’ request for fiber-optic work on the William Lehr Drain (parcel #12-11-01-03-02-018.000); Westfield Redevelopment Authority’s request for a detention facility on the Cool Creek-Wheeler & Beals Arm (parcel #08-05-25-00-00-058.000); and Jared and Courtney Hammill’s fence request for Fox Hollow Drain. Christine Altman moved to approve each non-enforcement as recommended; Dillinger seconded and motions carried unanimously.
The Surveyor presented a no-cost change order clarifying bid forms for the Clara Knotts Drain Park Broadway Arm Phase 2 project so invoicing and accounting reflect pay entities identified in a January 26, 2024 report. Altman suggested the change be called an "Administrative Correction," and the board approved correcting the bid documents to reflect appropriate pay entities.
Clark described sub-surface drain risers as vertical access pipes that allow access to underground drain points and overflow entry; the board accepted those risers into the regulated drain network.
The Surveyor also summarized construction updates: ongoing work on Clara Knots Drain Park Broadway Arm Phase 2 (near 103rd Street), anticipated remobilization for Mary Wilson/Oak Park Drain when weather allows, ordered materials for Hortonville Drain, punch-list and seeding work on A.F. Ingerman and William Lehr projects, easement acquisition for West Arcadia and Anchorage drains, and sequencing for Emily Vestal Drain reconstruction.
The board’s approvals were procedural and unanimous; several projects remain pending further work or easement negotiations.
