The change stems from routine charter housekeeping to align older references with current practice: commissioners noted the city already posts meetings on YouTube continuously and wanted Section 3.2 to stop implying only scheduled cable repeats are acceptable. One commissioner said the section should be reworded “to clarify that it’s now, like, live streaming and on YouTube and always available.” The commission did not specify exact new phrasing at the meeting and directed staff to prepare language for a subsequent review.
Why it matters: updating the charter makes explicit a transparency practice that residents already rely on and avoids potential confusion for future administrators who might interpret the current text as requiring legacy cable broadcasts. The clerk will circulate the revised draft for legal check before the commission finalizes the amendment.
The commission moved on to other administrative sections; the clerk will bundle all approved redlines for counsel to assemble into a single submission to city council by the July 1 recommendation deadline.
