Forney ISD extends security-guard contract for one year with no CPI increase

John Chase and administration staff reviewed the district’s existing security-guard contract, which places guards at several campuses including Forney High, North Forney High, Opportunity Center, Brown Middle School and Jackson Middle School. The original contract included options for up to four one-year renewals; staff recommended approving the first extension.

Chase told the board the contractor was allowed under the original bid to increase prices by the consumer price index year-over-year, but the company agreed to hold its prices flat for the extension, meaning no cost increase for the district this year. Administration recommended awarding the one-year extension to United Protective Services.

Miss Paris moved to approve awarding the contract extension to United Protective Services; the motion was seconded and carried with no opposition. District staff said the contract extension preserves campus coverage while administration continues to monitor security needs and contract performance.

The board did not discuss specific contract dollar amounts during the open session; the packet provided to trustees included contract information and renewal terms.
