At the May 22 Planning Commission meeting, Rex Young of Laurel Creek Energy Storage LLC updated commissioners on the proposed Laurel Creek battery storage facility located on Tax Map Nos. 18-1-34 and 18-1-98.
Commission staff reviewed the application and a resolution was presented acknowledging that the proposed storage facility and associated transmission lines are consistent with the county’s comprehensive plan and Virginia Code §15.2-2232. David C. Buchanan Jr. made the motion to adopt the resolution; Paul Shepherd seconded and the commission approved it unanimously.
No substantive public opposition was recorded at the Planning Commission meeting; staff indicated the project was moving forward and no additional action by the commission was required at that time.
