Kittitas County adopts two proclamations and recognizes long‑serving employees

The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners on April 21 adopted two proclamations recognizing therapeutic courts and court interpreters and paused the meeting to acknowledge six long‑service county employees.

Sam opened the meeting and read a proclamation declaring May 2026 as Therapeutic Court Month, citing evidence that therapeutic courts reduce hospitalization and emergency visits, lower involvement in child‑welfare systems and produce economic benefits. The board approved the proclamation and invited participants to make brief remarks and take a photograph after the reading.

The board also read a proclamation declaring Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Court Interpreter Appreciation Day in Kittitas County. Walter Seebach, who identified himself as working in Superior Court, phoned in to thank the board for the recognition and to emphasize the interpreters’ role in providing equal access to justice.

In brief ceremonial business the board recognized six employees for service milestones ranging from five to 25 years, naming staff who had reached 5, 10, 20 and 25‑year anniversaries.

The proclamations were adopted as read; the board then proceeded to regular business.
