Redevelopment officials: train bridge bids due in March; KPG foundation work has begun

At the Jan. 26 meeting the Greendale Redevelopment Commission reviewed construction and development updates, including the train-bridge beautification and early work on the KPG project.
On the bridge project, commissioners said a bid package approved in December has been issued and that the deadline to receive sealed bids will be the commission’s March meeting (March 16 or 17). Members discussed continued outreach to potential contractors and possible partnerships with county agencies and the visitor and convention bureau for cost-sharing.
The Stellar program application was discussed; members stressed the need to identify matching funds ahead of a mid‑year application. The commission asked staff to clarify what matching sources are available before committing to the Stellar application.
Separately, staff reported KPG has closed on bond financing and held a productive preconstruction meeting. Foundation and site-preparation work has begun in phases; staff said crews will pour foundations and then allow settling before vertical construction proceeds. Commissioners agreed periodic updates are warranted, with a suggestion to move the update to a quarterly item unless significant developments occur sooner.
