Staff said the system would be voluntary and initially applied to parks with pavilions and restrooms; it would help the county better anticipate weekend traffic, plan janitorial services and create a modest revenue stream. Staff suggested keeping fees affordable for neighborhood users, citing local examples in the $10–$15 range and noting that another municipality charges about $70 for larger pavilions.
"This would be a completely voluntary option to the public, but provides an opportunity for the public to make reservations in advance," the presenter said.
A board member moved that staff develop an appropriate reservation fee schedule and the motion was seconded. The board recorded several ayes on a voice vote; the transcript records multiple affirmative votes and at least one dissenting voice during the roll call style acknowledgement of the vote. Staff said the county could pilot the reservation system at selected parks and maintain a mix of reservable and non-reservable pads to preserve access for residents who do not pre-book.
The board’s action directs staff to return with a fee schedule proposal for inclusion in the FY 2027 budget and fees schedule.
