Commission approves two MSBUs and extends Oak Bend grant amendment

The commission approved several consent and walk-on items on Dec. 16, including the start or amendment of Municipal Service Benefit Units (MSBUs) and a utilities grant amendment.
Chad Wicker, municipal services director, presented two MSBU items. The first established/start for Heather Island (25.87 acres) with proposed assessments of $500 per acre per year to cover general maintenance, mowing, pothole patching, sidewalk repairs and a capital fund for a 0.44-mile road overlay. Wicker reported no notices of opposition to the assessment and the board approved the request by voice vote. For Mary Camp Market Center Phases 1 and 2 (currently assessed at $275 per acre for 17.8 acres), staff presented a request to add right-of-way mowing and other maintenance services and to increase the assessment to $500 per acre per year to fund a future 0.98-mile road overlay; the item was also approved by voice vote.
Utilities director Tony Cunningham presented Amendment No. 3 to a Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant for Oak Bend Mobile Home Park to extend the grant expiration (then Dec. 31) by several months and expand the scope of eligible reimbursement to include additional completed work. The board approved the amendment as a walk-on item.
Votes on the MSBU items and the grant amendment were unanimous by voice; no roll-call tallies were recorded on the record.
