Planning commission advances accessory-structure and permitting changes for future draft

At the Jan. 21 meeting the Town of Silver Cliff Planning Commission added a set of building-code items to its work program and asked staff to prepare formal draft language for consideration at a subsequent meeting.
Building and zoning official Chris McKellip was directed to clean up Chapter 8 (Accessory Structures) and to format all proposed changes. Commissioners agreed to raise the accessory-structure size threshold from 120 square feet to 200 square feet and to incorporate that change into the draft ordinance. The commission also asked McKellip to draft or add amendments to IRC Section R105.2 (permits) — either as a single amendment or incrementally — to improve permit enforcement.
The commission discussed decks of 200 square feet or less and noted that while no by-right size limit currently exists in the code, a permit is required to construct them; the proposed edits will address that permitting language. The minutes do not record a formal vote; staff will return formatted draft language for further review.
