Dylan Elliott, legislative advocate for the California State Association of Psychiatrists, praised the bill as overdue and said training would complement existing physical‑health safety courses that coaches take. Hospital and behavioral health associations, school administrators, the MLB clubs and county behavioral health directors offered support. No witnesses registered opposition. The committee voted to refer AB 16 65 to Appropriations.
