Lannom Library reports budget stable, staff privacy concerns prompt resignation from Imagination Library board

At the April 9 meeting the Lannom Library director reported the library's budget is on track and described several operational and governance developments. Courtney Mercurio said printing volume increased and the library requested a second copier in next year’s budget. "So much printing with the copier," the report notes. The minutes record that a longevity-pay issue arose and was resolved; the report says, "Longevity pay is to help with retention, rewarding long time employees with at least 5 years employment with the county." Trustees approved the financial report by voice vote (mover: Lynda Welty; second: Rupa Blackwell).

The director also reported that Lannom Library formally resigned from participation on the Imagination Library Board. The report states the resignation followed “a shift in expectations for board members that extended beyond the historical liaison role” and cited concerns about the handling and distribution of personal contact information and requests for public-facing participation that did not align with the library’s staff privacy policies. The report says the library will continue to support the Imagination Library's mission and assist patrons with referrals as needed.

Courtney highlighted circulation notes: Ingram shipping times have improved but book manufacturing quality problems persist. The library added two Tonies boxes and three figure sets to its Library of Things in response to patron requests and available funds. No trustee comments were recorded and the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
