The Ringgold County Board of Supervisors on June 9 set a public hearing for 6 p.m. June 29 in the Assembly Room of the Ringgold County Courthouse to take public comment on a proposed temporary moratorium on data centers. The board reviewed a draft prepared by County Attorney Wetl.s and asked several substantive revisions.
Supervisors asked that references to battery storage systems and specific zoning requirements be removed from the draft because Ringgold County does not have zoning regulations. Auditor Amanda Waske was directed to work with County Attorney Wetl.s on the requested changes and to present a revised draft at the board’s next meeting. The board instructed that official notice of the hearing will be published next week. A resolution setting the hearing (RC26-93) passed unanimously.
The moratorium as drafted would pause certain approvals for new data center projects temporarily while the county considers whether and how to regulate aspects of those developments. The board’s requested edits narrow the scope of the draft by removing provisions tied to zoning and battery-storage-specific language; the revised language will be brought back for review before or at the June 29 hearing. The hearing provides an opportunity for residents and affected parties to comment before the board considers any formal restriction or follow-up action.
