Sherburne County Community Corrections outlines Comprehensive Plan timeline, budget progress and workload study

Corey Mabis-Rowe told the Advisory Board that Sherburne County Community Corrections is preparing a short, two-year Comprehensive Plan required by the Minnesota Department of Corrections and due Sept. 15, 2026. The draft will be circulated to Advisory Board members for review and feedback before being submitted to the Board of Commissioners for signature and then forwarded to the Department of Corrections for approval.
Corey and Mia Higgins reported progress on the 2027 Community Corrections budget after meetings with Assistant County Administrator Dan Weber. They said the budget is nearly finalized and will be presented to the Board of Commissioners; no final approval occurred at the Advisory Board meeting.
The Department of Corrections contracted Evident Change to complete a workload study intended to determine staffing needs and an equitable, sustainable funding formula for probation supervision. Sherburne County probation officers and supervisors participated by completing detailed reports; the study was described as scheduled to finish in roughly two weeks.
Procedurally, Jordan Krogstad moved to approve the March minutes and Anne Felber seconded; the board approved the minutes unanimously. The board did not vote on the Comprehensive Plan, budget or study findings during this meeting; those items were presented for information and forthcoming review.
