Wayne County approves retirements, resignations, terminations and multiple hires

At their June 4 meeting the Wayne County Commissioners accepted a retirement and several resignations, terminated a part-time corrections officer, promoted and hired staff across corrections, transportation and food services, and held Salary Board recesses to process compensation changes.
The Wayne County Commissioners on June 4 approved a slate of personnel actions including retirements, resignations, a termination, promotions and several hires.
Commissioner Jocelyn Cramer moved, with Commissioner James Shook seconding, to accept a letter of retirement from Mail Room Clerk Diane Gibbons, effective June 29, 2026. The board also accepted resignations from Children and Youth Caseworker Thomas King (effective June 1) and Caseworker Beth Thomas (effective June 12).
In a separate motion, the commissioners voted unanimously to terminate Part-Time Corrections Officer Samantha Slebodnik, effective May 19, 2026.
The board approved multiple hiring and promotion actions. Commissioners approved hiring Shannon Rewoldt as a Clerk 3 in Wayne County Transportation (effective June 29); promoting Part-Time Corrections Officer Lauren Molinaro to full-time status (effective June 7); and hiring Stephen Dubois and Vincent Silon as part-time corrections officers (effective June 15). They also approved hiring Steven D’Acquisto and Jacquelyn Sasso as food services workers at the Wayne County Correctional Facility (effective June 15). Each set of personnel approvals was followed by recesses to hold Salary Board meetings for implementation of pay and classification changes.
Commissioner Brian W. Smith and his colleagues offered well wishes to employees leaving the county and praised long-serving staff, noting institutional knowledge challenges as employees retire.
The personnel motions passed unanimously; effective dates and positions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
