Board appoints two elementary principals after executive session

Following an executive session on negotiations and principal searches, the board appointed Megan Chavez as Cleveland Elementary principal and Mary Mullikin as Madison Elementary principal for 2026–27.
After convening in executive session under state statute to discuss negotiations and candidate evaluations, the Norman Public Schools Board returned to open session and voted to appoint two elementary principals.
The board recommended and voted to appoint Megan Chavez as principal at Cleveland Elementary School and Mary Mullikin as principal at Madison Elementary School for the 2026–27 school year. The motions passed by roll call vote. The executive session included the superintendent Dr. Nick Mcgillino, district counsel Hi Drew, associate superintendent Holly Neville, CFO Tyler Jones, and executive director of student services Dr. Stephanie Williams; the board reported no additional matters discussed and no votes taken while in executive session.
Both appointments were approved by unanimous roll call shortly after the board reconvened in open session.
