Wyoming draft modernizes CPA licensure to ease workforce pipeline

A coalition including the Wyoming Society of CPAs and the State Board backed a draft to add a third pathway to CPA licensure (bachelor's plus two years experience) and modernize mobility language; the committee approved moving the draft forward and voted final passage in committee.

The committee reviewed a draft bill to modernize certified public accountant licensure requirements in Wyoming. Sara Sweeney of the Wyoming Society of CPAs said the bill preserves core education, examination and experience standards while adding a third pathway: a baccalaureate degree plus a two‑year documented experience requirement (alongside existing pathways requiring 150 semester hours or a graduate degree).
