At its Aug. 11 meeting the Clearview Board of Education approved multiple personnel actions, adopted student handbooks and changed its minutes policy to include public comments.
Resolution 2025-121 authorized certified hires for the 2025–2026 school year, including Michael Shamblin as Computer Technology Teacher (M.A.+37, Step 6), and the appointment of intervention specialists and teachers; the board also approved numerous stipend recipients for the district's Science of Reading program, MTSS curriculum payments limited by individual caps, supplemental positions, mentors and long-term substitutes. The same resolution recorded resignations including Michael Collier, Athletic Supervisor (effective 7/23/2025), and Mark Majoras, Intervention Specialist (effective 7/31/2025).
Resolution 2025-121 continued by approving classified staff appointments including Laura Baca as Library Aide (7.5 hours), Diana Pierson as Attendance Aide, as-needed special-education aides, drivers and extracurricular staff; the minutes record the retirement of Susan Tomusko, Library Aide, effective Aug. 1, 2025, and the resignation of Raquel Christensen, Cook's Helper, effective Aug. 18, 2025.
Under Resolution 2025-122 the board approved student handbooks for Vincent Elementary, Durling Middle and Clearview High School. Resolution 2025-123 changed meeting practice: minutes of all regular and special public meetings will now include a section dedicated to public comments. The board accepted a $500 donation to the athletics department from Ronald and Diane Stevenson (Resolution 2025-124).
The board entered executive session at 7:03 p.m. under Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(g)(1) to discuss personnel matters, with the Superintendent and Treasurer present; the minutes note no action was taken in executive session and the board exited at 7:15 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:16 p.m.
Why it matters: The personnel approvals fill staff needs for the coming school year and the new minutes policy formalizes public-comment reporting in the official record. The executive session indicates confidential personnel discussion, consistent with state law.
