At the July 25 joint public hearing, William R. Varner described property improvements and said he intends to operate a "quiet, family-friendly" campground on Tax Map No. 29-A-828 across from 1857 Riverdale Lane on Saltville Highway. Neighbors testified in opposition, citing concerns about litter, potential overcrowding, sewage management, environmental impacts and neighborhood character.
