After the presentation, the Smyth County Planning Commission reviewed the draft and identified several minor edits. Commissioner Lea Meadows moved to adopt the Comprehensive Plan with the suggested edits; the motion was seconded by Commissioner David Spence and passed by recorded vote. The Commission complemented Hill Studios on the presentation and asked staff to collect any final comments.
The plan is intended to guide land-use decisions and inform future rezoning and development requests across the county. The Commission’s recommendation sends the adopted plan forward for any additional steps required by County practice and provides staff direction to solicit outstanding comments from stakeholders before final implementation.
