Committee advances code changes to standardize mobile-home park rules

Chair Councilor Leonard opened discussion by asking staff to present proposed code amendments to mobile-home park regulations. Anne Krieg, the community economic director, told the committee the change is intended “to make the requirements for mobile home parks the same.” She said the earlier 1971 cutoff had left newer parks technically nonconforming in some dimensional controls and that the amendments would “give a level playing field for all of the different mobile home parks.”

Krieg said the principal differences addressed are dimensional controls such as setbacks and roadway width. After brief discussion with no substantive objections, staff recommended forwarding the draft amendments to the full council for consideration. A motion to adopt the staff recommendation was moved and seconded and the committee agreed to move the item on to the council for further action; no roll-call tally was recorded during the meeting.

The committee did not alter the substance of the draft during the meeting; the next formal step is review by the full council, where public notice and any required ordinance-reading steps will occur.
