Robbins board adopts new municipal code after three-year codification effort

Village Clerk Sharon Dyson told the board the codification project began in 2022 and will make the village's ordinances available on the website in a uniform format. “I’m happy to say we’re at the end of the process; and the board will be passing the ordinance to adopt this code tonight,” Dyson said during her report.
Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson moved to adopt the ordinance; Trustee Michael Collier Sr. seconded. The roll call vote recorded ayes from Trustees Ernest Maxey Jr., Tiffany S. Robinson, Thomas Harper Jr., Gregory N. Jackson and Michael Collier Sr.; Trustee David R. Dyson was absent. The motion carried.
The clerk and mayor framed the codification as an administrative transparency measure intended to make village law easier for residents and officials to consult. The meeting minutes note the finance director was not present for the session but that staff continue coordinating with planning and building departments as development interest emerges.
The ordinance was presented and adopted without recorded amendments at the Feb. 25 meeting; any future changes will follow the village's normal ordinance process. The board adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
The clerk said the new code will be published on the village website; the minutes do not specify a publication date.
