CCRPC committee votes to continue with Sullivan, Powers & Co. as auditor

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission’s Finance Committee voted unanimously June 1 to negotiate and enter a contract with Sullivan, Powers & Co., P.C. to serve as the commission’s auditor.
Forest Cohen, the commission’s senior business manager, told members the CCRPC issued a request for proposals in early May and received two bids: the incumbent Sullivan, Powers & Co. and RHR Smith & Company. Cohen said fee schedules and proposals were very similar but noted RHR Smith did not explicitly confirm whether their scope or budget included attending and presenting audit findings to the Board.
Treasurer John Zicconi and several members said the long working relationship and the firm’s responsiveness to feedback weighed in favor of staying with Sullivan, Powers. "They ask the right questions, are respectful and work with staff appropriately," Jeff Carr said in support of continuing the contract.
Jeff Carr made the motion, Michael Bissonette seconded it, and the committee voted unanimously to proceed with negotiating and entering a contract with Sullivan, Powers & Co., P.C.
The motion carries no additional conditions recorded in the minutes. The committee did not record a detailed vote tally in the meeting minutes beyond "motion carried unanimously."
