At the June 4 meeting a city staff member said council provided comments on proposed updates to the unified development code, specifically raising limits on where hemp retail shops could operate and on the number and siting of data centers within city limits. Staff said those comments will go back to the planning and zoning commission for review and a recommendation.
The meeting also included a budget workshop. The staff member said the council received an overview of the budget process and heard presentations from the police department and public works. Departmental budget reviews will continue through the summer; staff said the council will determine a final budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2026–27 after completing those reviews.
Council did not finalize changes to the unified development code at the meeting; instead it directed staff to forward council comments to the planning and zoning commission for formal consideration and recommendation.
