Sherborn Select Board approves request for state Financial Management Review; task force to oversee process

On May 14 the Sherborn Select Board approved the Sherborn Governance Task Force III's recommendation that the Massachusetts Division of Local Services (DLS) conduct a Financial Management Review (FMR) of the town, the task force reported at its June 1 meeting.
The task force recorded that it will manage the DLS review process, which members expect to begin in August. Task force members said the DLS review will supplement and inform the broader body of work and recommendations the group plans to deliver.
The agreement for a DLS-led FMR directs the outside review of Sherborn's financial management practices and is intended to provide an independent analysis to guide the task force's recommendations to town officials. The minutes state the SGTF will oversee the administrative process for the review while continuing its own vetting of governance ideas.
At the June 1 meeting members also approved routine meeting minutes from May 11 and discussed scheduling and next steps for coordinating the DLS review with the task force's upcoming working sessions. The task force scheduled additional meetings on June 15, June 22 and June 29 to continue work and to prepare for the August review start.
The minutes do not give a detailed timeline or budget for the DLS review beyond the expected August start, nor do they identify a project lead beyond the SGTF's stated responsibility to manage the process.
