Lancaster County approves paperwork for $99,655 narcotics JAG grant

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on June 11 approved updated Applicant Risk Assessment and Disclosure of Lobbying Activities forms required to finalize a Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Continuation Grant application worth $99,655, county staff said.
Sara Sump of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office told commissioners the two documents are prerequisites for the federal passthrough award administered by the Nebraska Crime Commission and that the funding supports the task-force officer position assigned to the narcotics task force. “These forms are required for the county's narcotics grant, which funds the task force officer position,” Sump said.
Commissioner Rick Vest moved to approve Item 4A and Commissioner Matt Schulte seconded. Vest, Schulte and Vice Chair Chelsea Johnson voted yes; Commissioners Sean Flowerday and Christa Yoakum were absent. The motion carried 3-0, clearing the paperwork necessary for the award letter to be issued.
The action does not appropriate new county funds; it authorizes submission and execution of updated forms that allow federal passthrough funds to be processed, according to the sheriff’s office presentation.
The board later noted Item 4 had been moved earlier on the agenda. There was no public comment on this item at the meeting.
