Kitsap County Planning Commission continues deliberations on 2024 Comprehensive Plan update

The Kitsap County Planning Commission on Oct. 1 continued deliberations on the county's 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update, hearing a presentation from Kitsap County Deputy Administrator Eric Baker and asking staff to assemble commissioner requests into a review matrix for the next meeting.
Baker began the Commission's Deliberations and Recommendations section shortly after the meeting opened and led discussion through the evening. The Commission recessed for a break at 6:47 p.m. and resumed at 6:58 p.m.; Baker told the Commission he would compile the questions, requests and concerns raised by commissioners into a matrix to be provided at the next Planning Commission meeting for follow-up.
Chair Joe Phillips opened and managed the meeting; no formal vote or adoption related to the Comprehensive Plan Update was recorded during the session. The meeting record shows the agenda was approved at the start of the meeting and that minutes from the Sept. 17 and Sept. 24 meetings were deferred for approval at a later date.
The session ran from 5:30 p.m. to adjournment at 7:20 p.m. and included public comment periods during which residents raised local traffic and zoning concerns (see separate coverage). The Commission did not take final action on the Comprehensive Plan Update during this meeting; staff follow-up and the promised matrix are slated for the next Planning Commission meeting.
