CCRPC approves CEDS draft and regional priority project list with EDA extension

The CCRPC voted unanimously Nov. 16 to approve the West Central Vermont Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) draft and an accompanying Regional Priority Project list.
Taylor Newton explained the process and said the Economic Development Administration granted a nine‑month extension to allow for additional outreach, equity work and partner coordination after staff turnover and the need for expanded outreach to underrepresented communities. "We were just granted a 9‑month extension by the Economic Development Administration (EDA) who is funding this effort," Newton said.
The CEDS sets six key regional goals—attracting workers, equity, business development/job creation, workforce development/retention, infrastructure/resilience and quality of life—and staff outlined a revised timeline leading to adoption in March 2023. Charlie Baker and Taylor reviewed project scoring prepared with Greater Burlington Industrial Corporation per Department of Economic Development guidance. Mike O’Brien moved to approve the draft and priority list; Chris Shaw seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Staff invited feedback on the draft by the Dec. 9 comment deadline via the West Central Vermont website or email; they also said the Equity Advisory Committee will review outreach materials.
