Arkansas Code Revision Commission adopts technical corrections across multiple titles for 2025 session

The Arkansas Code Revision Commission adopted a package of technical corrections for the 2025 legislative session at its Oct. 17, 2024, meeting.
Kevin Koon, Arkansas Code Revisor, introduced Exhibits G1 through G19, which propose technical edits to the Arkansas Constitution (Amendment 51) and numerous statutory titles. The commission approved Exhibit G1 (punctuation and conjunction fixes to Amendment 51) and likewise approved technical corrections for Titles 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25 and 27 after motions and seconds from commission members and legislative members.
Exhibit G11 (Title 16) was approved as amended when staff discovered an omission on Page 1, Line 33; the commission directed that the phrase “a person who is on” be inserted before “post-release.” Commissioner Camille Bennett moved to approve G11 as amended; Representative Jimmy Gazaway seconded and the motion was adopted. Exhibit G12 (Title 17) was approved as amended by changing “appointment” to “appoint” on Page 8, Line 11; the amendment was moved and seconded and adopted.
Chair Matthew Shepherd asked staff to search the Arkansas Code for other references to “emergency session” and “special session” in connection with Exhibit G18 (Title 25). The commission also asked staff to prepare a list of unclassified offenses for the benefit of the legislative members.
