Bremen conservation update: easements, native-tree panel and comprehensive plan meeting announced

At the May 21 meeting of the Bremen Board of Selectmen, Ann Nesslage of the BCC provided an update on efforts to protect town properties through easements and announced upcoming public outreach on tree protection.
Nesslage said the Hay Property and Weston Spring properties already have conservation easements, but the Hilton O'Connor trail lacks an easement because the land is part of Fire Department/Town House property. She told the board there will be a public panel on July 15 at the Town Center to discuss threats to native trees and a homeowner-focused talk in August describing how easements can protect private property.
Nesslage also said she had spoken with Kami Peaslee, the GSB vice principal, about schoolchildren walking local trails. Separately, Cheryl Ferrara updated the board on the Comprehensive Plan Committee, reporting that working groups have met and will present findings to the full committee at a public meeting on May 28; the public is welcome to attend.
