Premier Lakes reports algae and reduces compressor noise; plantings delayed after Edgewater concerns

Bill Kurth, representing Premier Lakes, told the Board that the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good shape overall though seasonal algae growth was observed. He said a palm tree at the shoreline of Lake E7A has been removed and that plantings are scheduled in the near future.
Regarding Masters Lake compressor noise, Mr. Kurth said that installing a cabinet around the compressor lowered the measured sound level from 64 to 52 decibels at a halfway point between the compressor and the screen line; he described the new level as acceptable in his opinion. Operations Manager Shane Willis cautioned that the issue is not only decibel level but also the compressor's tone; staff will coordinate with Premier Lakes to consider moving the compressor and report findings at the next meeting.
Board Chair Bob Schultz summarized additional concerns in Edgewater, including flooding and the need for piping, littorals and rip-rap in some locations. The consensus was that Canna lilies should not be planted; Mr. Kurth said plantings in Lake E4-A will be delayed until an agreement is reached with the Edgewater Association and staff will resubmit the proposal when appropriate.
No formal action was taken to move the compressor or proceed with Lake E4-A plantings at the July 23 meeting; staff will return with options and recommendations.
