Van Buren County OKs $71,000 interfund transfer after Destination Iowa grant delay
The board approved a $71,000 transfer from the General Fund to the Conservation Land Acquisition Fund to cover unreimbursed expenses while the final Destination Iowa grant payment for the Austin Gateway Access project is delayed. The Conservation Director will further research maintenance and insurance costs for a park cabin offered to the county.

County Conservation Director Richard Daugherty told the Van Buren County Board on June 24 that release of the final Destination Iowa grant payment for the Austin Gateway Access project has been delayed. Auditor Lisa Plecker said because the General Fund will not be fully reimbursed before fiscal year end, the remaining balance must be coded as an operating transfer so the conservation department can make the final reimbursement in FY2025.
