Lancaster — In a series of personnel and budget actions June 16, the Lancaster ISD Board of Trustees amended and adopted the district’s 2026–27 compensation plan, approving new pay grades and positions aimed at athletics and virtual learning expansion.
Trustee Jana Cortez moved to delete the athletics director paygrade 7 and add an executive director of athletics at paygrade 9 (251 duty days). The motion was seconded by Vice President Quinny Nichols and passed with six yes votes and one abstention (Taji Jones). Board members said the change aligns athletics leadership with district needs.
The board also approved adding an assistant director for the virtual academy and AI innovation (paygrade 7) as recommended by the superintendent. That motion carried with five yes votes and two abstentions (Trustee Daryl Kuis and Trustee Taji Jones). Administrators said the role will support planned virtual learning growth and AI‑enabled instructional supports.
Finally, trustees voted to adopt the full 2026–27 compensation plan, as amended, for inclusion in the district’s 2027 budget. The adoption vote was recorded as six in favor with one abstention. Administration said the amended plan reflects planned program expansions and staffing alignments for the upcoming year.
