Ceresco trustees amend accessory-building rules, approve retirement plan and banking authorizations
Summary
On Aug. 19 the board approved amendments to the accessory building section of the zoning ordinance (Ordinance 2025-3, second reading as amended) and unanimously adopted several administrative resolutions including retirement-plan Roth deferrals (Resolution 2025-8), bank signatory authorization (Resolution 2025-10) and municipal road-program certification (Resolution 2025-11).
At its Aug. 19, 2025 meeting the Village of Ceresco Board of Trustees took several administrative and regulatory votes, approving an amended second reading of a zoning ordinance and adopting multiple resolutions covering employee retirement deferral options, bank-signatory authorizations and annual road-program certification.
Board member Ruble moved to approve Ordinance 2025-3 on its second reading with two amendments: (1) allow steel-frame accessory buildings provided they comply with current accessory-building regulations, and (2) require that new accessory buildings match the main residence color and include an engineer’s seal or certification for wind and snow loads. The motion carried unanimously; the board set a third reading for the next meeting.
Chairman Scott Peterson introduced Resolution 2025-8 to amend the village SIMPLE IRA plan to allow Roth elective deferrals consistent with SECURE Act 2.0; the board approved the resolution, effective Jan. 1, 2026 per the plan sponsor. The board also adopted Resolution 2025-10 authorizing specified village officials — including the chair, chair pro tempore and Clerk/Treasurer Joan Lindgren — to sign on designated CerescoBank accounts, and Resolution 2025-11 authorizing the chairperson to sign the Municipal Annual Certification of Program Compliance required by Nebraska statutes for the Board of Public Roads Classifications and Standards.
The board approved a dental insurance renewal (2.5% increase) with no change to vision coverage and authorized Clerk/Treasurer Joan Lindgren to attend the League 2025 Annual Conference (Sept. 25–26) at a cost of $426.00. Several routine committee minutes and claims were approved during the meeting.
