Library reports strong programming, seed library and Gold-level reaccreditation

She said the library launched a seed library using an old card-catalog cabinet, supported by grants from Farm Credit Services and a major donation from a local estate. Volunteers, including Carri Simonson, helped solicit seed donations from vendors. Mary Joe said the library distributed more than 700 seeds last year and will continue gardening programs for children and adults in coming seasons.
The library also has been working on a veterans'book project (staff said the publisher now has the materials and the book is expected by summer) and planned a robust summer program schedule with special presenters. Mary Joe reported the library was re-accredited at the Gold level and credited staff and board support for that outcome.
Council members praised the library's outreach and programming. Mary Joe and councilmembers said volunteers and grant funding have been essential to expand offerings.
Council did not take formal action on the report; it was presented for information during the meeting.
